HIGHWAY 24

The Brown Lady of Raynham Hall
"I'm just a ghost in this house
I'm shadow upon these walls,
As quietly as a mouse
I haunt these halls."

- Allison Krauss, Ghost in This House

Tale from CoutuJA

Camp Lejeune "Locals in Jacksonville, North Carolina, say that Highway 24 is haunted. The road is said to have been a Civil War trail used by the Union army, where they slaughtered a whole company of Confederate soldiers. I have witnessed much weirdness traveling this road at night. One time, right at the front gate of Camp Lejeune, my car's headlights dimmed real low; then the radio faded to nothing. At first I thought my car was breaking down, but then the gas pedal hit the floor by itself and the car took off straight at a tree. Right before I hit the tree, the car came to a dead stop and over the radio I heard a faint voice say, 'Damn the living who mock this road." -CoutuJA
